The 'maximum occurrences' option allows the business to control how many times an employee can request a specific leave type within a defined time period. This helps prevent frequent or repeated leave requests and ensures leave usage follows company policies.
Access Requirement: Only employees with HR Admin access can update leave type settings.

Set Maximum Occurrences for a Leave Type
Step 1: Open Leave Types
Log in to your Yomly account using your dedicated business URL.
Navigate to Main Menu → Settings → Leaves → Leave Types.
Step 2: Select the Leave Type
From the list of leave types, click the leave type you want to configure.
Click the Edit button.
Step 3: Configure Maximum Occurrences
Scroll to the plan limit section of the leave type.
Locate the option for Maximum occurrences.
Enter the maximum number of times an employee can request this leave.
Select the time period for the limit (for example, per month, per quarter, or per year).
Enable or confirm the setting for the leave type.
Step 4: Save the Leave Type
Click the Save Leave Type button to apply the changes.
What Employees Experience After This Is Set
The employees can request the leave only up to the allowed number of occurrences within the defined time period.
Once the maximum number of occurrences is reached, the leave type can no longer be requested for that period.
The leave type becomes available again when the next time period starts.
Validation and Error Message Behavior
If an employee tries to submit a leave request after reaching the maximum number of occurrences:
Yomly prevents the request from being submitted.
A validation message is displayed, informing the employee that the maximum number of leave requests for this period has been reached.
Error message: 'Maximum number of occurrences of this leave type exceeded for this period'.
The employee must wait until the next eligible period to apply again.
Important Notes
This setting applies only to the selected leave type.
The occurrence count is based on approved or requested leave requests within the configured time period.
Ensure that the leave type is assigned to a Leave Group so employees can see and apply the restriction correctly.
Best Practices
Use maximum occurrence limits for leave types such as Casual Leaves, WFH Leave or Study Leaves.
Select time periods that align with company leave policies.
