Businesses can configure Unpaid Leaves so that employees must first use their available Annual Leave balance before submitting an Unpaid Leave request.
This ensures paid leave is utilized before unpaid leave is applied, in line with company policies.
Access Requirement: Only employees with HR Admin access can update leave type settings.

Main Menu → Settings → Leaves → Leave Types → Unpaid leave
Configure Unpaid Leave to Use Annual Leave First
Step 1: Open Unpaid Leave Type
Log in to your Yomly account using your dedicated business URL.
Navigate to Main Menu → Settings → Leaves → Leave Types → Unpaid leave.
From the list of leave types, click Unpaid Leave (or the relevant unpaid leave type).
Click Edit.
Step 2: Enable Annual Leave Usage Before Unpaid Leave.
Locate the option for the Unpaid check box.
Next to the option you can see the Use Annual Leave Balance Before Unpaid Leave option.
Enable this setting.
Enabline this option was set Annual Leave as the leave type to be consumed first.
Step 3: Save the Leave Type
Click Save Leave Type to apply the changes.
What Employees Experience After This Is Set
When an employee applies for Unpaid Leave, the system checks their available Annual Leave balance first.
If Annual Leave balance is available, the leave request will use Annual Leave days instead of Unpaid Leave.
Unpaid Leave can only be submitted once the Annual Leave balance is fully used.
Important Notes
This configuration applies only to the selected Unpaid Leave type.
The Annual Leave type must be active and assigned to the same Leave Group.
Leave balances must be correctly configured for accurate behavior.
Use this setting to ensure paid leave is prioritized over unpaid leave.
