Businesses may require employees to complete a minimum length of service or probation period before requesting certain leave types. This configuration in the leave types helps enforce HR plan limit policies by preventing employees from submitting leave requests until they become eligible.
Access Requirement: Only employees with HR Admin access can update leave type settings.
Setting a Minimum Length of Service for a Leave Type
Step 1: Open Leave Types
Log in to your Yomly account using your dedicated business URL.
Go to Main Menu → Settings → Leaves → Leave Types.
Step 2: Select the Leave Type
From the list of leave types, click the leave type you want to restrict.
Click the Edit button.
Step 3: Configure Minimum Length of Service
Under the Plan Limits section, locate the option of Minimum length of service.
Select the checkbox to enable this option.
Choose the duration for the Minimum length of service (for example, number of days or months).
Step 4: Save the Leave Type
Click Save Leave Type to apply the changes.
What Employees Experience After This Is Set
Employees who have not completed the required minimum length of service, will not be able to submit a request for this leave type.
The leave type appears in the list option but when they try to submit, system will give the error of 'minimum length of requirement not met.

Once the employee completes the required service period, the leave type can be sucessfully submitted with no additional action needed.
Validation and Error Message Behavior
If an employee tries to apply for a restricted leave type before completing the required length of service, the system will prevent the leave submission.
An error or validation message 'Minimum length of service requirements is not met' is displayed, informing the employee that they are not yet eligible for this leave type.
The leave request cannot be submitted until the eligibility condition is met.
Important Notes
This setting applies only to the selected leave type.
Eligibility is calculated based on the employee’s joining date in Yomly.
Make sure employee joining dates are correct to avoid incorrect restrictions.
The leave type must be assigned to a Leave Group for the restriction to apply correctly.
Best Practices
Use this setting for leave types such as Sick Leave or Unpaid Leave based on business policies .
Clearly communicate leave eligibility rules during employee onboarding.
Review leave configurations regularly to ensure they align with company policies.
