How to Set Maximum Duration of Leave

The 'Maximum duration of leave' configuration allows businesses to control how many days an employee can request in a single leave request. This helps prevent long or incorrect leave requests and ensures limited days of leave usage at the time of single leave request as per company policy.

Access Requirement: Only employees with HR Admin access can update leave type settings.

What Employees Experience After This Is Set

Employees can only submit leave requests within the maximum allowed duration.

If the requested leave exceeds the configured limit, the request cannot be submitted.

Employees must split longer leave periods into multiple requests if allowed by company policy.

Validation and Error Message Behavior

When an employee tries to submit a leave request that exceeds the maximum allowed duration:

Yomly prevents the request from being submitted.

A validation or error message is displayed, informing the employee that the requested duration exceeds the allowed limit. Error message given: 'Maximum length of leave request exceeded'.

The employee must adjust the leave dates to proceed.

Important Notes

This setting applies only to the selected leave type.

The maximum duration is checked per single leave request, not against the total leave balance.

Ensure the leave type is assigned to a Leave Group so employees can see and apply the restriction correctly.

Best Practices

Set maximum duration limits for leave types such as Annual Leave or Study Leave.

Clearly communicate leave request limits to employees to avoid confusion.

Review maximum duration settings regularly to ensure alignment with HR policies.
