How to Make Supporting Documents Mandatory for a Leave Type

Supporting documents can be made mandatory for specific leave types to ensure compliance and proper record-keeping. This setting allows you to define when employees are required to upload documents while applying for leave.

Access Requirement: Only employees with HR Admin access can update leave type settings.


Navigation Path

Main Menu → Settings → Leaves → Leave Types


Enable Supporting Documents for a Leave Type

Step 1: Access Leave Types

  1. Log in to your Yomly account using your dedicated business URL.

  2. Navigate to Main Menu → Settings → Leaves → Leave Types.


Step 2: Select the Leave Type

  1. From the Leave Types list, click the leave type you want to update.

  2. Click the Edit button.


Step 3: Enable Supporting Documents

  1. Under the Plan Limit section, locate the option Enable Supporting Document.

  2. Select the checkbox to enable this option.

  3. Choose the number of days after which supporting documents will be required.


Step 4: Save the Changes

  1. Click Save Leave Type to apply the updated changes.


What Happens After Enabling This Configuration

  • Employees will be prompted to upload supporting documents when applying for the selected leave type.

  • Supporting documents will become mandatory based on the configured number of days.

  • Leave requests without the supporting documents cannot be submitted by any employee.


Important Notes

  • This setting applies only to the selected leave type.

  • Ensure the leave type is assigned to a Leave Group for employees to see the updated requirement.


Best Practices

  • Clearly define which leave types require supporting documents (e.g., Sick Leave).

  • Align document requirements for leave types with HR policies and local business compliance rules.
