Configuring Maternity leave in Yomly is a three-step process
- Create a Maternity Leave Type
- Configure Maternity leave limits (or tiers) for each country
- Ensure you have a Pay Category to calculate salary deductions based on the configuration
Create a Maternity Leave type
Each leave group may have different maternity leave settings depending on business policies and employee work location. The steps below outline the basic configuration, which HR can adjust as required.

Navigate to
Settings→Leave→Leave Type -
General Settings :

Leave Type name: Assign a clear name for this leave type (e.g., Maternity Leave).

Leave category:
Other Leave -
Calendar / working Pattern:

In the UAE, female employees are entitled to 60 calendar days (counting every day).

If you want to exclude weekends, choose Working Pattern instead.

Approval pipeline: Select the pipeline that matches your business’s approval process for this leave group.

Deduct public holidays from bookings:

When using Calendar pattern, decide whether public holidays should be included or excluded.

If excluded, enable Deduct public holidays.

Enable half day bookings: Optional, as per business policy.

Unpaid: Leave unchecked — payment percentage will be set later.

Restart Approval Process: Enable — ensures edits trigger the approval pipeline again.

Customer Availability: If not selected, the system will mark the employee as Unavailable.

Enable Auto Allocation: Not relevant (ignore).

Allow Future Leave Requests: Enable — allows requests that cross into the next leave year.

Enable Supporting Document: Optional — if enabled, set the minimum leave length that requires a document.

Minimum Length of Service: Optional — define how long an employee must have worked before becoming eligible.

Maximum Duration of Leave: Leave blank — this will be set per location in Preferences.

Minimum Notice: Optional — set according to business policy.

Maximum Occurrences: Optional — some businesses set this to 1 per year.

- Click Save to create the leave type.
