Payrun Error : Must be assigned a Valid Location

When running a payrun, you may encounter the error "must be assigned to a valid location" for a staff member. Follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

 

  1. Open the employee’s profile and check their assigned location.

  2. If no location is assigned, edit the profile, add the correct location, and save the changes.

  3. Return to the payrun and requery the payrun for the affected staff member only.

Some businesses with only one site may wonder why this step is necessary. This is because your business might be using a common/generic pay category, which is created for all locations. In such cases, the system requires a location to determine the correct calculation script based on that location.

To prevent future issues, ensure that the location field is updated for all staff. This is now a mandatory field for all newly added employees, so it will be automatically filled during the onboarding process.
