In a number of Yomly features, such as Expenses, Performance Management, Requests, Payroll, and more, pipelines help you implement workflows and assign permission-based approval mechanisms at different stages of processes.
For example, in an expense request's lifecycle, the pipeline configured helps you define the following, and more:
- The sequence in which the request is sent to different approvers (or groups of approvers)
- A mechanism to edit a request after saving it or sending it for approval
- Whether or not a task (that remains pending until an approver performs an action) is integrated with any stage of the approval process.
- Whether or not email notifications and push notifications are sent to approvers at any stage of the approval process.
Pipelines facilitate customization with no or minimal code changes. On the technical side, pipelines are Finite State Machines (FSMs) with states and transitions.
In Yomly, the pipeline editor has a simple and intuitive UI that enables you to create, edit, and configure pipelines easily and quickly.
As a platform admin, you might need to customize pipelines or create a new pipeline from scratch to implement different processes. We understand that creating or customizing a pipeline can be daunting, and have collated this list of articles with information, tips and tricks, answers to frequent questions, and tutorials, to put together usable pipelines:
