Enabling employees to view their job description

Introduction

Yomly provides you with a comprehensive job description (JD) system, which is utilized all over the platform (which is why it is a part of Organisation Management). You can assign JDs to job roles.

As every employee in an organization has a job role, ideally, everyone in the organization must be aware of their job description. However, let's assume that as a platform administrator, you have forgotten to allow employees to see their own JDs due to an oversight. The My Job tab and data containers can help you overcome this hassle.

Objective

In this tutorial, you will learn how to enable your employees to view their job description when viewing their profile details.

Procedure

To display employee job descriptions with profile details, do the following:

  1. In the sidebar, in the Business section, click Settings.

  2. Go to Customization > User Interface.

  3. Click each of the following options to expand them:

     EmiratesHR

        Employee Profile

           My Job Tab

In the My Job Tab section, the My Job Container customization option is displayed.

    By default, it is disabled.

  4. Click My Job Container and click the settings (  ) icon.

  5. Enable the Visible toggle button in the Rules for My Job Container dialogue and click Save. Similarly, enable that the Visible toggle button for My Job Tab (if it is not already enabled).

When you enable the My Job Tab and My Job Container customization options, employees can see the My Job tab when viewing their profile details. This tab displays the details (basic information and job description) of the employee's job role.

It's a data container!

The definition of Employee Profile - My Job (tab) indicates that it is of type Data Container.

To view the container definition, do the following:

  1. In the sidebar, in the Business section, click Settings.

  2. Go to Customization > Containers.

  3. Click Employee Profile - My Job.

As indicated in the rightmost column, it is a global container.

You can use data containers in multiple other ways. For example, you can:

  • Add additional functionality to the container without coding.

  • Customize how your data is displayed using an overridden container.

In upcoming versions, this data container will include:

  • Targets for the job role

  • Links to Performance Management goals

  • The employee's onboarding tasks

To ensure that you are ready to take advantage of these powerful features, as a platform administrator, you can do the following:

  • Add job descriptions to the platform.

You can add job descriptions in the editor. You can also add images and videos directly in folders (enhanced feature in the recent version of Document Management). We recommend that you try to write compelling and engaging JDs.

  • Assign JDs to job roles.

  • Enable your employees to view the My Job tab.

  • If required, customize the data container to display additional details.
