About Payroll

Payroll is a comprehensive payroll management system that enables finance and payroll teams in organizations to calculate, manage, and automate the payment of all forms of employee compensation, including salaries, bonuses, advances, commissions, employee benefits that have a monetary component, and expense reimbursements. Payroll also helps you process deductions, such as taxes, advance repayment, and more.

Why use Yomly Payroll?

Payroll has the following features and unique advantages:

  • All-round integration

    Payroll is fully integrated with other Yomly features, such as Leave, Benefits and Expenses. All changes or additions you implement in these features are automatically considered in payroll calculations.

  • Bulk import

    In Payroll, you can import employee pay information in bulk. This is especially useful when working with high volumes of payroll data with multiple variables, as it minimizes manual data entry.

    You can simply drag spreadsheets (CSV or XLS files) directly into pay runs and select the columns you require.

  • Multi-currency support

    As Payroll supports multiple currencies and region-based settings customization, you can conveniently manage and run payroll for employees based in different locations across the world.

  • Dynamic pay categories

    In addition to simple, static pay categories with hard-coded definitions and static assignment to employee groups, Payroll has dynamic pay categories (pay categories V2), which use the platform's policies engine.

    Dynamic pay categories enable complex calculations, such as taxes and regional policies. These pay categories are also automatically assigned to employees.

    For example, you can create a dynamic pay category to automatically apply a policy to all employees working in a specific country who are citizens of the country.

  • One-click payslip issuance

    You can issue employee payslips with a single click of a button. Employees can view their payslips in their profiles and can also receive them as password-protected email attachments. 

    You can customize the payslips you generate based on the design and style your organization favours. You can even include your company logo.

    Payroll enables you to recreate payslips from the past with absolute fidelity and also lets employees reprint payslips issued to them previously at any time.

  • Simplified exports and reporting

    Payroll enables you to export any completed pay run in any file format you need to send payroll data to your bank.

    The platform is pre-loaded with bank file templates, which comply with all regulatory requirements, for all major banks in the GCC and MENA region.

    If you cannot find the file that corresponds to your bank, our Professional Services team provides a service of creating custom bank file templates. To engage our Professional Services team, contact your account manager or submit a request.

    Payroll enables you to export pay run data in the following file formats:

    Format Description
    CSV This enables you to import the file into applications supporting CSV files.
    XLS This is the Excel file format.
    SAP GL input This facilitates importing pay run information, including GL codes, into SAP.
    WPS SIF

    Under the Wages Protection System (WPS), which is an electronic salary payment system mandated by the UAE government, you must provide organization's salary data to your bank in specific file formats.

    Payroll enables you to export WPS SIF files in styles used by different banks in the UAE.

    OFX This is the standard interchange format used by most banks and accounting software.
    Standard report formats Yomly Business Intelligence (BI) enables data export in multiple formats, such as XML, JSON, X10, and more.

    Additionally, using Yomly BI, you can generate reports that correspond to different stages of the payroll process, such as a pay run report, a cost to company analysis, and more.

Navigating to Payroll

To go to Payroll, in the sidebar, in the Business section, click Payroll.

Managing payroll for your organization

Payroll enables you to create and manage the following:

Payroll components Description
Pay runs

Pay runs enable you to visualize, manage, calculate, and export your payroll data. Based on your requirement, you can run multiple pay run models.

For example, you can create pay runs for regular monthly pay, ad-hoc pay, final settlements, and more.

You can also create different pay runs based on location, currency, type of payment (salary, expense reimbursement, or another), and more.

In Payroll, you can create, manage, run, and close pay runs in the Pay Runs tab:

Payroll validates pay runs before executing them to ensure availability of all required information and compliance of the final data with local banking and regulatory requirements.

Advances

Payroll also provides you with a comprehensive salary advance management tool that helps you account for advance payments and subsequent deductions based on the configured repayment schedule.

In Payroll, you can create and manage advances in the Advances tab:

When creating and managing advances, you can specify custom values for different parameters, such as the repayment period, method of repayment, and more.

You can also view your credit and debit history and generate reports to examine your total outstanding liability.
